Vacation Prep
I’m currently in the throes of packing for some time away in the mountains and no matter how many lists I make, I always worry I’m going to forget something. Packing lists aside, there are all the things that I want to do in our home before we leave to make our trip worry-free and our return a welcome one.
- Change all the sheets and towels — Nothing feels better than coming home to fresh linens. It’s always such a welcome return to be in your own bed again and having fresh sheets takes it to the next level. Bonus: do all the laundry before you leave too so you aren’t coming home to full hampers or tons of wrinkly, but washed things to fold and put away.
- Take all the garbage out and clean out your fridge — This one might seem like a no-brainer, but nothing is worse than coming home to stinky garbage that’s been sitting there for days on end so even if it’s a no-brainer, it’s also one you must not forget!
- Water all your plants —Self explanatory, give them a good drink (or better yet, if you’re going to be gone a long time, have someone come and water them!
- Put a hold on your mail delivery — It’s easy to do online and then you don’t have mail piling up in front of your house letting everyone know you aren’t home.
- Tidy up — Packing can be rough and chaotic at times, but you don’t want to leave a mess at home to be greeted with after you come back from a trip.
