Weekly Whimsy | No. 6

It’s been so busy over here! We’ve been in the full fall/Halloween swing of things. It’s finally cold enough that the heater has been coming on and it’s oh-so-cozy. We’ve hit up all our favorite pumpkin patches and even tried a few more. Lemos Farm was a huge hit, I took the boys on a Tuesday after a morning dentist appointment and it was just the perfect day. Maybe I’ll have to do a recap. It’s definitely worth making it work on a weekday vs a weekend. We took our annual Halloween costume photos over the weekend—this is my mom hack. Obviously being a photographer I can be photo obsessed, but it’s become a tradition to do the costume photos in a costume appropriate themed location about a week before Halloween. That means we can have fun and play in the costumes, get some cute shots and on Halloween itself I can be more in the moment, grab photos on my phone, but not stress if I don’t get a family one or if everyone is a bit too busy because I already have the costumes documented. This week the festivities continue with a Halloween parade, a “boo walk” to check out decorations in the neighborhood with friends and then Halloween itself! We’re going to an annual potluck and trick or treating party at a friend's place which is always a hit.

5 Things on My Mind

Paper Chain Garlands — I’ve been seeing these all over Instagram and I have to say I love the trend. We made one more Halloween to hang in our kitchen and it’s so fun, a little classic and whimsical. I’m going to attempt to save it for next year. This reel in particular is the one I modeled ours after. She just posted a Christmas one as well and it’s equally joyful.

Red Cardigan — I love wearing red during the holidays. It’s so cheerful and always makes me feel festive. I don’t need another red knit, but the covered buttons on this cardigan make it feel extra chic so it’s in my cart anyway!

Hydrangea Wallpaper — Stumbled across this hydrangea wallpaper and I love it. I saw someone have it in their laundry room and that seemed like a perfect space for it—not a huge room and not a place where it might be overpowering or clash with seasonal decor. Saving it for a future house as we only have a laundry “area”.

Red Triangle Scarf — I’ve been seeing these knit triangle scarves, specifically in a bright red, everywhere. It’s a trend I can definitely get behind. I’ve seen them across all price points, but this is the one I’ve ordered to try.

Plaid Wax Trench Coat — I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need this beautiful coat. It’s just so gorgeous and while the pattern is a statement it’s also somehow a neutral? The colors would go with everything for fall and winter.
