Party Animals 2nd Birthday

It’s on my list to start to plan Levi’s third birthday party (how?!). And it made me realize, I never shared his second birthday, even though it turned out SO cute! Now I definitely do not think you need to go over-the-top with kids birthday parties, honestly, they don’t care, BUT if it’s something you enjoy, I feel like, why not! I love a good tablescape so I knew I wanted one special one, even though our party was very casual and the kids were running around basically the whole time.

Growing up my mom was (and really still is) a master crafter. She’s so incredibly creative and definitely instilled in my sister and me (for better or worse) the idea that we could make anything. I knew she’d jump at the chance to help me make my little “party animals'“ and boy did she overdeliver! We had so much fun making all these tiny hats and deciding which animals needed tiny presents for their backs, bubble gum bubbles to blow (the ostrich, duh!) and tiny balloons to carry. We used silver pipe cleaners for the rims of the hats and tiny pom poms for the ends. The balloons I ordered because I didn’t feel like making them and my mom wrapped styrofoam up with tiny ribbons to make the presents—she even stamped some of the patterns on the paper because we couldn’t find the small scale patterns we wanted for the “wrapping paper”. For the animals, we ordered mostly from this well-known brand Schleich, they’re great quality and once the party was over, Levi was able to keep them to play with (although I’d be lying if I said it didn’t pain me to undecorate them). I also grabbed some little tiny, cheaper animals for the cupcakes and to stick in goody bags (along with some animal crackers and playdough).

Most of the plates, napkins and cups I found at HomeGoods which is a great place to look for party supplies. I wanted it to feel bright and cheery so I had been scoping out all the HomeGoods for a few months to collect the right things, but the brand Meri Meri has the cutest options and I did get a few things from there as well. These napkins are similar and these are the red and white plates I used. The little hats were also a HomeGoods find, but again Meri Meri has so many cute options. I linked what I could and a few tablecloths with similar vibes!
